Just an addition, i don't think turning off the feature is working.

Is that why the button is blue? Let's get a GLOBAL way to turn this off if you please.

Thanks

I listened to Slacker for several hours today, and I only ever heard ONE ABC News announcement all day, about 10-15 minutes after my Squeezebox alarm started a station to wake me up this morning.

To clarify, we played one announcement to all users alerting them to this new ABC News feature included with our subscriptions service and available as a trial for users of the free service.

But we did not automatically activate this feature for any Slacker listeners. After that one announcement and Headline News break, you'll never hear it again unless you either turn it on yourself (via the Global or Fine Tune settings) or you actually launch the News station.

I was surprised to hear the ABC News update, and have to say I'm VERY HAPPY about it. Now if you're listening to Slacker Radio for hours, you don't feel isolated or out of touch with what's going on. Something important happens? You'll know about it in the short news update. I love it. Best idea the Slacker folks have been working on for a while.

It makes Slacker seem more like radio, but still without all the annoying things "regular" radio has (zillions of commercials, no control over the music, etc). I think it's great.

And if you don't like it you can disable it.

One thrilled customer here!

I finally got back to the forum to read the answer, thanks RomeE! You are the awesome answerman!

I don't disagree with radiovegan that it might be nice to break up the music after a while but I Tivo the news at home already and listen to the BBC and RTHK podcasts so when I am on Slacker, I am looking for music only. Just my personal preference.

I am soooo thankful that Slacker has taken all of us into account and has this global setting.

-- While I'm on the subject of global settings, is there a global setting for the DJ RomeE?
I listen to about 10 channels regularly and have turned all those off individually but would love a global setting for that too. Thanks!

It's been suggested, but not an option at this time
