T-Mobile Settings

Postby daniel on Sun Jan 18, 2009 9:56 pm

If you are on T-Mobile and having connection problems, please check your APN settings in Options > Advanced > TCP. The value for APN should be wap.voicestream.com. This is normally set from the carrier when you get your phone, but it apparently can be wiped if you update the OS of the phone. After you make this change, restart Slacker and you should be good to go.

Please note, that if you are connected to a BES, you may still have an IT policy pushed to your phone may not allow you to use Slacker for streaming. If you are connected to a BES, please contact your BES administrator to find out if Slacker is being blocked.

I'm on an 8120 with T-Mobile and have adjusted the TCP settings but I'm getting an error message that says: "Login Failed. A connection with the server could not be established." Any suggestions?

I'm on TMO with a 8100. Adjusted the APN but the same login error. Maybe due to BES and the IT policy. Any other suggestions?

T-Mobile doesn't currently support device OS higher than 4.2 for the 8100, even though other carriers support 4.5. Slacker requires 4.3 or higher.
I've installed an unauthorized version of the 4.5 OS on my 8100 that I found via blackberryforums.com. Slacker radio worked perfectly after the second time I installed it, but I'm going to uninstall it again. It seems to be draining my battery about 5 times as quickly as normal, even when shut down. That may just be something weird about my combination of unsupported OS and carrier. Your results may vary.

Update: I was also having a problem with mass storage mode not working when plugged in to USB. Two different computers kept asking me to insert a disk in the drive.

Uninstalling Slacker Radio resolved that and now I can see all the files on my SD card.

This is really disappointing because I LOVE the application. I'm eagerly looking forward to the next version!

I have the new BB 9700 Bold and Slacker already has a app loaded in the software and once i download the app and log in it plays fine for like 15 to 20 mins. then it will automaticlly just start buffering like it's searching for signal, then i will log out and once i try to sign back in it says login failure and some error code.. heres the other funny thing, i have P*ndora also and when i try to sign into that one it wont let me either, its giving me the same error code..I have my setting to allow everything for the player and i even uninstalled both apps and reinstalled just Slacker and went through all the set up stuff and it continued to do the same thing.. to me its a real dissapointment because i like Slacker over the other and I just ended my monthly subscription due to not being able to listen to it from my BB becuase i love to have music playing while at work.. if there are any solutions i would really love to know so i can start using this great program again.. Thanks

The correct APN for T-Mobile is actually epc.tmobile.com. It was changed several months ago when they started rolling out their 3G coverage. The wap.voicestream APN will still work, but the correct one is the epc one.
