When you connect your G2 via USB, it should create a network connection. If you can bridge that network connection and your regular home network connection together, then it should be seemless and easy. The bridge will allow the Slacker portable to get an address from your home router, as well as connect to Slacker's servers to get new music. If you can't bridge, but can do some sort of internet connection sharing, that would work as well, as long as the connection sharing IP range and your home network IP range are different.
If it doesn't create a network connection when you connect it, you'll need to do some searching for drivers... I don't remember the Broadcom chip that handles the networking in the G2, but I'm sure I could find it when I get home tonight.
OK thanks I may try this.
I just learned that I can do station caching on my BlackBerry (tour) via linux so I may just ditch the G2 anyway. Works pretty much seamlessly (with wine 1.1.32) with the exception that uncaching stations appear to leave the BlackBerry's filesystem in a bad state. This was easy to fix tho' with dosfsck...
I really liked the G2 but am often where I can't find a good wireless signal but can get a wire so I guess this is my only option - well except go to Win7.... Naw...
