I have a strong wifi signal and a broadband connection. Slacker was the main selling point for me to buy the walkman but I can't get it to fully refresh. It gets about 20% into the first station then gives me an error to check connection setting all the while the connection is perfectly fine.

Are there any ports that should be forwarded or maybe setup DMZ on the router. I have tried two different routers as well(Linksys and Asus) and both do the same thing.

I have even tried 5 different walkmen... I thought they were problems with the players, but I guess not...

Any help would be appreciated... I don't suppose there are any plans to allow refresh over USB are there?

First of all - with USB cable connected...can you transfer music via Windows Media Player to your Sony X Walkman ? Hopefully, Yes. If not, you need a more up to date windows media player. (this happened to me)

Secondly, with WiFi connection, can you access youtube videos on your Sony X Walkman ?
If the answer is yes, then the actual wifi connection is obviously not the problem.

Next - what default ip address is your wifi router configured to use ?

If you look at the G2 manual which is available as a pdf on line (I had three G2s - they all broke within a week each - which is why I am using a Sony now) you will see that the default router connection used by certain wifi routers is incompatible with slacker services. This may require that you reconfig the router and change the default IP address. I know that Linksys, Cisco, and I believe Netgear use a default IP address that IS compatible....DLINK on the other hand does not.

G2 manual states that IP address 192.168.0.1 is incompatible with slacker app....try changing the default ip config to 192.168.1.1

Also - did you register the product with the appropriate Sony X Walkman unique ID code to your account ? That is important also.

Hopefully, one of these will work for you...try the ip address change last.

IP address should have nothing to do with syncing via WiFi. The IP address issue with the G2 is only when syncing via USB (which the Sony can't do, from what I've read) because USB syncing with the G2 makes use of Windows internet connection sharing (ICS) and its hard-coded IP address setting of 192.168.0.1. If this address is also used by your home router, it confuses ICS and the G2 doesn't connect to Slacker's servers.

When syncing via WiFi, your device - G1, G2, Walkman, etc. - is connecting directly to your wireless network, without the use of internet connection sharing, and so it is getting its IP address directly from your router. It should not make any difference what IP address it receives, since it is already talking directly to your router.
