Sorry, Slacker is not available in your area.

Is anyone else constantly getting "We're Sorry Slacker Personal Radio is not available in your area"? Some days there is no problem but I've only be able to listen one day this week due to this issue. I'm in the U.S. and everytime I check my IP address it states I'm in the U.S. Pandora has the same restriction of "U.S. only" as Slacker but I have never had a problem with them. Slacker support hasn't been real helpful either. I like Slacker better than Pandora but if this isn't fixed I will have to go back to them.

Who is your ISP?

We've run into situations where ISP's will purchase new blocks of IP addresses, and those IP addresses used to belong to a different country (Canada is the most common).. After the purchase, it can take a few days/weeks for the new information to filter down so that the IP address doesn't identify as coming from out of the Country. If you have more information (like your ISP and IP address) then please contact us and we'll be more than happy to try and assist you further. You can also call your ISP and see if they can not give you a new IP address until the information is cleared up maybe?

Thanks,

My work ISP is Sprint. I have sent my ISP and IP address to Slacker support two times in the past couple weeks and communicated via Live Chat support too. Live Chat basically said there was nothing that could be done. Slacker was working fine yesterday but not today. I have traced my IP address and it has not changed from day to day. I don't understand why Slacker will work one day and not the next.

Send me a Private Message on the forums here with your email address and I'll see what the tickets say.

Sadly, there isn't anything much we can do from our end most of the time. If the IP address is assigned to something outside the US, we have to block it. The way to correct this is at the source, to resolve why the IP address is showing as coming from outside the US.

Thanks RomeE. I haven't had any problems since my last PM 2 weeks ago. I have tracked my IP address with http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/visual-tracert/ a couple of times recently. A few times the route went into Canada and back to the US and Slacker worked just fine.
