There haven't been any announcements, but anything is possible. If they get enough requests and see there is a demand for it, it is possible they will look into developing an app.

right now they have the pandora app that works nicely but i personally prefer slacker. they obviously can't make a dedicated app for every different model of phone but i would hope the pre will fall into the category of phones worthy enough. it even looks similar to the dedicated G2 player.

I believe Slacker already stated that they were not privy to receiving an advance copy of the Pre's WebOS SDK. As a result, if they started working on it now, it would likely be at least a few months before a beta even surfaced, much less a completed and working app.

And considering that the Pre is only one phone, it'll probably fall behind the WinMo and Android versions, assuming Slacker is even working on those...

Yep, I asked a few weeks ago - this was posted by a Slacker:

Right now it seems that BB is the preferred phone OS for them. There's a line of people with OSs that have been waiting for awhile, unfortunately :(

Actually, the Pre is the first phone to feature Palm's new WebOS. There are more phones in the works that will feature the WebOS, so it will be a larger market than just one phone in a bit of time...
We'll also see the market share grow after the Pre's exclusivity with Sprint expires and heads to other networks as well as a GSM (worldwide) version is released.
I predict that we'll see a sizable market for a WebOS version of Slacker in the not too distant future.

Also, I will be a Palm Pre owner next month (trading up from the iPhone), so I'd love to see a WebOS version of Slacker ASAP. :)

The same can be said of Android... and there's still been no word of an Android app yet either. Windows Mobile has been around a lot longer than both Android and WebOS, and nothing has been said of an app for WinMo either. It'd be nice to know what Slacker is working on as far as their mobile apps go, especially since this seems to be the way they want to keep moving.

I agree. It'd be nice to see development for these other platforms, I'm just not holding my breath for anything anytime soon. (I'm crossing my fingers though, and most specifically for WebOS).

So now that the SDK is available, hopefully we can get some development going on this!

Good luck on that. The Windows Mobile and Android SDK's have been out for quite some time. Right now, slacker seems to be running an almost exclusive deal with RIM. I'm beginning to think thats alot of the hold up for other platforms.

Just registered to pipe in that I would like to have a Slacker application for the pre as well. Although I wonder if it would be easier for them to develop a secondary mobile page that would work for most smartphones with mobile browsers. It wouldn't be as fast as a native application, but it would be better than nothing while applications are being developed.

I remember hearing the slacker CEO saying something like 80% of listeners are mobile users (not web browsers)... It would make sense to have a 5 prong strategy: Windows Mobile (now called Windows Phone OS), Palm (webOS), Android OS, Iphone, and Symbian OS...
