I'm trying the radio plus and can't turn off the DJs. Does Radio Plus not allow me to do this?

I'm sure this has been answered elsewhere, but, here I go. I am currently a memner of Drizzler.com, where I can search for songs, and create a playlist for free. Now, I am really impressed with Slacker, and, I am thinking about upgrading to a Premieum subscription. A couple of questions: Are any other board members familiar with Drizzler, and, if so, what would be the advantage to paying 89.00 a year, to do basically the same thing I can get for free on Drizzler. Also, if I upgrade, am I able to enter a particular artist, and get a listing of songs by that artist that I can choose from, as I can with Drizzler, and save them to my playlist? Again, I am not knocking Slacker, but, I am on a budget, and would like some input on the pros, and cons of both services. Thanks.

I'm not familiar with Dizzler but with Slacker you are creating a radio station not a play list per se'. With the Plus or Premium accounts you can request unlimited songs for your radio station. The difference between the Plus and Premium is with Premium you can save some of the songs to be able to play them whenever you want. Now Slacker has to pay licensing to the artists and the record labels, looks like Dizzler doesn't as it doesn't own their music so depending on which licenses Slacker has you might not be able to save a paticular song. Now that you can save a song doesn't mean you own it but as long as you are a premium subscriber you can listen to that saved song at any time. The plus account is only 3.99 a month. I hope this helps

Hm, I'm thinking hotmale3606 is up to something that's not very kosher. Drizzler? Can't even find it on Google and the way the posting is worded.... sounds a bit spammy to me.

Some web usage statistic collecting websites show drizzler.com getting activity but if so, it must've closed recently.

This information is not correct, at least according to support. If you're a new subscriber, you can only buy a year. Without any guarantee of which songs are allowed to be saved, how do I know if premium is worth it over plus? (although they seem to working as hard as possible to get rid of premium anyway)

I wanted to try it for 3 months before I committed to a year. :(

Best Buy used to sell a 3 month subscription for the Premium radio. Check out your local best buy store and see if they still have any of those cards.

At this time the premium subscription to save songs is only available in increments of a year. Likewise with the radio plus subscription.

I thought about subscribing to slacker plus, but I'm more than happy with the occasional 2-3 ads every hour and I don't mind the 6 skip limit per station. Slacker has actually helped me listen to music better because I'm too ADD to fully listen to one song on my mp3 player :-)

Old post, but I think he meant deezer, not drizzler. It's kind of like a last.fm clone.

Signing Up for Premium Radio

Postby pblandino on Sun Mar 01, 2009 8:52 am

Hi all,
I'm new to Slacker Radio but have fallen in love with it! After discovering the web service I signed up for a Plus account a few days ago (I am still within the 7-day trial period). Last Friday I purchased a G2 device and have been enjoying listening to it. I'd like to sign up for the Premium service so I can save favorite songs, but haven't found a clear upgrade path. First of all there doesn't seem to be a direct link to Premium Radio on the Slacker website. After searching the forums I've discovered the URL that will get me there, but I wonder why it's buried. Next, when I tried to sign up for Premium service from the link I mentioned above, I am told that I am already a Premium subscriber! Weird. I suppose part of it has to do with the fact that Plus Radio is new and some of the links on the Slacker site are confused between Plus and Premium, but I'm hoping somebody can help.
I thought of canceling my Plus service and then trying to sign up for Premium, but am hesitant because I'm afraid I'll end up with nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You will need to cancel the plus service and when the 7 day trial period ends, you can then sign up for premium. Slacker has stated that they won't get rid of premium but they are pushing the plus service as it was new and the new mobile software can't use the premium services as far as saving songs. Just beware that you can't save every song with the premium service.

Is the premium or plus tied to my username or my portable? I ask because if I loose or upgrade my slacker will my new unit still have the upgraded service...

Thanks,

Chris

Your subscription level is tied to your username, that is, the name that you use to log onto the Slacker.com website.

I have 3 portables and 3 accounts, but only two of those accounts are paid accounts. I have switched my portables between accounts and the portable acts consistent with the paid or free account, depending upon which Portable ID is associated with which account.

So, if you upgrade, lose, break, or replace your Portable, you just enter the new Portable ID in your account and your Portable has all the advantages of that account.

Re: Slacker Premium Radio -- The Ins and Outs

Just to recap.

I bought a G1 one woot (yay $59.99) and I couldn't help myself and bought a G2 at Best Buy ($199 - 10% - $45 in RZ certs) = $135 (yay!).

So Just to recap I need a separate email and separate radio subscription for each unit, is that correct? I can't use one plus account on two slackers?

Thanks.
