Slacker down?

Postby jschodde on Tue Oct 06, 2009 8:21 am

As of 9:15am PST the player stopped working. I did a page refresh (ctrl+f5) and got a message saying that it's temporarily offline. That's the second time in the past few weeks - as I recall.

So what happened? Did someone trip over a cord or something? C'mon you guys, this is starting to seem like a weekly event. I'm a paying customer that sees the value in your service and committed a good bit of money.

Can you perhaps increase the level of professionalism and document each outage and explain what happened? A simple "oops sorry" won't cut it in the long term. There are many online audio services out there including many FREE ones.

Regards,
Jeff

I'm gonna have to agree here... You guys have these great forums... when problems arise, just make a quick post saying there's a problem, the symptoms we might experience (if we can experience anything), and when it'll be resolved.

Maybe also provide info regarding when any regularly scheduled maintenance occurs (surely you guys have a regular window when maintenance is done on the servers or site, right? weekly, bi-weekly, monthly...), so we know that problems might be experienced during that timeframe.

Hehe. And why would they respond with an explanation for this problem when they ignore so many others? I fully expect silence on this one as well. Slacker has not built a reputation for openness.

We do try to post information when we have it. Unfortunately most of the time by the time we get to posting something, the issue is actually resolved.

Our IT Dept is actively working any and all issues, and we feel that we have made some great progress in resolving the issues at hand.

We will try and keep you all better updated.

Problems this morning?? My wake-up station on my Squeezebox came right up at 6:00a as usual, but now that I'm at work, the iPhone, Blackberry, and web player all are non-functional...

Things seem to be limping along right now... the web player loads now, but it's definitely a bit slow...

Not that I'm aware of. I'll call IT, but the graphs look good for me.

Well, all's good now... but there was definitely some time early this morning that I was not able to get to Slacker, regardless of method attempted. I got timeout errors from the company proxy when trying to access the web player, station list failed to load on the Blackberry, and failed to sign in on the iPhone...

Please contact Customer Support at support@slacker.com or use our Live Chat option found on http://support.slacker.com.

Before returning the player you need to speak to an agent and get authorization. They will perform some troubleshooting steps to verify that the player is defective prior to providing shipping information.
