Orbitcast has a post with info of Slacker showing off Android and WinMo at CTIA!

Not much else in the way of details or a timeline, and the apps look pretty similar between the two platforms... Regardless, we now know that WinMo AND Android users will soon have their Slacker fix!!

Excellent! Can't wait to see it on WM. Hope it does caching. Having to have an open data connection all the time will limit its usefulness.

I agree that caching is the way to go. Did we determine if iPhone and iPod Touch are limited to streaming due to an agreement with Apple? I can't imagine that there is a technological reason, but who knows.

My Pharos GPS Phone 600 has Garmin Mobile XT installed on it now. The Pharos will only accept a 2GB micro SD card and the Garmin Mobile XT application itself takes up over 1 GB. Of course, I added a number of POI files, too. That might only leave 500 kB for the Slacker application and content. It looks like it will be time to upgrade to a newer phone compatible with On Course Navigator 8. I love Garmin Mobile XT, but since it comes on a 2 GB micro SD card that is pretty limiting for me. OCN 8 comes in 2GB, 4 GB, and 8 GB versions. I think it is time to find a GSM smartphone compatible with both Slacker Radio and 8 GB version of On Course Navigator 8. (That is if the Slacker Radio application will cache on WinMo and Android devices!)

This is seriously awesome news. I've been waiting for the Android version since I got my G1 a year ago. I seriously hope it supports caching...not supporting it would make the app considerably less useful. :-(

Awesome news! Pandora on Windows Mobile streams at heinously low bitrate and the Last.FM windows mobile client is pretty weak. And of course Slacker Radio beats the pants off both of them. But I really hope it supports caching. Realtime streaming over the cellular radio kills the battery and in my area I often have an intermittent signal when driving out of town. If it includes cache support I'll subscribe to Slacker in a heartbeat.

I'm a bit disappointed noone from Slacker has responded to this thread.. maybe looking for some beta testers, or at least a projected date?

if they do it the same way they did their other platforms, you won't hear anything then one day it will be on their website, then they will advertise it's available.

If they were to have released a projected date they would have done so last week in CTIA 2009.
They have not other than q4 2009 q1 2010, so just hope that with the boom in android sales and official releases of winmo 6.5 and android 1.6 that they feel the pressure to get this to market.

Slacker hints that all three apps will pop into being by the end of 2009, but the streaming music site that competes with Pandora and Last.FM hasn't been able--or willing--to commit to a time frame.

Agreed, you can count me in to any potential beta test offering. I've been waiting for a Slacker Android app for almost a year now. Its release will make me quite happy.
