I have, but if I had to repeat the process for setting it up, I'm not sure I'd be able to. The two main things I had to do were to (1) change my router from subnet 192.168.0 to 192.168.1, and (2) change my ZoneAlarm ICS setting to "this computer is an ICS/NAT gateway". Even after that, it took a lot of network wailing and gnashing of teeth ...

Once you get it set up, though, it works without a problem after that. That's been my experience, anyway.

Well, Mr. Sarcasm, it's that easy once you get it set up. It's setting it up that's the problem.

Most people have their subnet set at 192.168.0, which is the default for most routers, and ICS has a problem with that - even Slacker has admitted that the setup isn't easy.

I was just replying to the OP question. Fact is the folks coming to this board are the minority. The minority comes here to complain. The rest never visit the board cause it is a flawless experience, or they just have lives and have no need to visit the board. I'm one example that my G2 updated via USB without doing any changes to my home network. So yeah I answered the OP question........Though you can call me whatever makes you feel good.

Many indeed have had problems connecting using USB. You have to excuse Out of Control, he is a know it all that actually knows very little. He thinks because his experience is one way that every ones will be the same. Unfortunately with different routers and configurations, not to mention limited knowledge by many end users this can be difficult.

Instead of actually answer the question and being helpful this is about as good as it gets from him.

To the OP, the bottom line is that for many end users it is probably best to contact support and let them walk you through the necessary steps to fix your issue. There are many threads posted that directly touch on this issue, so you could do a search, but easiest and quickest would be to just chat with support.

I think the biggest problem with USB sync is when you are plugged into a computer using WiFi. The software tries to use the wired port. If you already have WiFi, you don't need to use the computer. Plug into the charger without the computer and connect directly with the G2 to the network.

It seems that every day more and more people enter the forum as new members and can't be bothered to do a search. If they took the same amount of time and energy to read previous posts that they use to complain and knock Slacker many of the questions would be answered. It many not solve the problem but provide some direction to narrow down the issues. Comments almost always lay the fault toward Slacker, not the individuals setup.

I had an issue with the player myself. Support was helpful, problem was addressed and despite the options we tried via e-mail and telephone the unit had to be returned to Slacker. I received a new player and it has performed flawlessly since I received it.

I am not directing these comments to any particular individual but as a reader of this forum a least once a day it becomes obvious. A little research and effort could go a long way.

You can also go to our support pages at http://support.slacker.com and search for USB Refreshing and get a FAQ that covers most of the basic issues with USB Refreshing.

It is networking, and anyone that has working a IT or done network can attest, there's a TON of things that can go wrong with USB refreshing.

But that being said, we have tons of people using it daily with no problems. Like many things, it may just require a little bit of configuration.

Some people don't want to go through the hassle and so they get a wireless router. Up to you, but if you want help, feel free to read the FAQ's and contact Support if needed.

I have Windows 7 and my computer is 64-bit the first time I used the USB Refresher Station software I had to unplug my G2 from my computer for about 20 seconds and then plug it back in again and it refreshed all of my radio stations. See if that helps if not then try a different USB Port on your computer. If you have a newer computer then you have 2 USB Ports on the front and in the back. If the ones in the front don't work try the one in the back.

Install Itunes.

In your PC's firewall, make the MDNSResponder.exe (part of the bonjour servcie) a trusted application/an exception/etc., whatever you do in your firewall to let an application connect to the internet. That should get you through the local firewall.

Yeah, I know it's an apple thing, but slacker players can apparently take advantage of its presence.
