New this week on Slacker’s Acid Jazz: Cochemea Gastelum: The Electric Sound of Johnny Arrow

Cochemea Gasteleum has established himself as one of New York City's most in-demand horn players. This Brooklyn-based multi-reedist is a member of Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings and is a saxophonist in the original band for the Broadway musical, Fela! He has performed and recorded with Paul Simon and Amy Winehouse.

On The Electric Sound of Johnny Arrow, Gastelum calls upon many influences, including jazz icon Eddie Harris in forging a fresh, inventive sound of his own.

The CD is produced by Gastelum and Adam Dorn (AKA Mocean Worker) who is the son of legendary jazz producer Joel Dorn (AKA The Masked Announcer). Check out Cochemea Gastelum on Acid Jazz and Modern Jazz!
