Multiple Devices on one Account.

It shouldn't be to hard a feature to add should it?
:-D

I know lots of people use the G1 for in-car use only, but use the G2 for everything else. With the addition of the blackberry and iphone, this makes even more sense.

We are currently in discussions about this. We need to make sure that our licenses allow for multiple devices in this capacity, and how many we can do per account if we are allowed multiple devices like this.

I would think the issue here is how much music do YOU (Slacker) want us to be able to listen to at once, since you're the ones paying the royalties on the music that gets played!

Having a Blackberry with cached music, a G1 or G2 portable, and either a Squeezebox or web player all going at once (with three different people, of course), one account can already play up to 3 songs at one time! Where does the revenue-cost level meet? That's where you should decide how many portable devices to allow per account.

Maybe allow a free account one portable... a plus account 2, and a premium account 3?
Now listening on:

All good points. Obviously i'm not involved with the discussions. I know that we do have a some record label restrictions too, just not sure what those are. Then there is the points you have talked about here. And I'm sure there are even other things I'm not even privy too.

Regardless it might be a simple "programming" fix, but it's way more complicated and so we have to make sure that we can fulfill our contractual obligations as well as fiscal ones 8*)

As an alternative, I would be happy if we could just link accounts. That is, the stations are identical for each linked account.

For example, I have three accounts, one for each Portable. I would like to customize a station and have those changes appear on the other accounts, automatically. Presently, I share the station after making the change, but that gets tiresome because I have a lot of custom stations and when I tweak a station It takes days of listening and changing.

I, too, would like the ability to have one account for two devices. If it was possible now, I'd get a G1 just for screen legibility in the car.

I also like multiple devices on one account.I have a g1 and a g2 and the same 14 custom stations on each device.I wish that I did have to go between 2 separate accounts when I make changes.I also do not want to pay for extra services on 2 separate devices.I currenlty have premium services on 1 account which runs out in May.I am not going to continue this service when it expires unless it covers both of my devices.

I think linking accounts here might be a better solution here...

Either that, or set it up such that creating copies of custom stations isn't required to sync a custom station to a portable (i.e. just adding someone else's custom station to your Favorites, then selecting to have it sync to your portable)... that way when the original station is changed - be it yours or someone else's - your copy of the station is updated as well.

I would really like to be able to have linked accounts, also.

The idea of having the ability to have a a shared station as a favorite, without having to save it and lose the link to the original shared station, is a great idea.

I have had a slacker g1 and just purchased a g2 and am sad to hear that you can not put two slackers on one account. I have altered the stations why would I want to do that again by having to creat another account.

Is there any update on this?

I have a G2 I listen to all day at work. I'm currently thinking about getting an Android phone and I'd love to be able to have it linked to my slacker plus account as well. That would allow me to listen to it in the car, gym, etc.

You can have as many devices running mobile apps as you want. The limitation is that only ONE of them can be listening to a streaming station. The others can all be playing cached stations.

You could have an iPhone, an Android phone, and a Blackberry all on the same account... the iPhone could be streaming and the Android and Blackberry phones could both be playing cached stations, and there wouldn't be any problems with this.

The problem comes to light when you want multiple Slacker devices (i.e. two G2's, or a G1 and a G2), as a Slacker account is only able to handle one Slacker portable at a time.

Yep I have a Bberry I have to carry at work and an iPhone that is personal. They are so bulky I never strap both on my side at the same time. Would be nice to use the app on both devices depending on where I am.
