Jim programs Country and Classic Country on Slacker Radio. Jim is a native Texan who literally lives the lifestyle of the format. That means he has his finger on the pulse of what today’s Country music fan is all about. It ain’t all twang and drawl anymore! Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift bring a whole new breed of crossover country artist to the forefront, and the musical genre is hotter than ever!

As the programmer for Classic Country, Jim understands where country has been and the pioneers who laid the genre’s foundation. Hays believes it is important that we never forget the legends of the genre like Hank Williams and Bob Wills. And those intermediaries we still cherish in our hearts—people like Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty and George Jones.

Before joining Slacker, Jim was a Program Director and DJ for more than 30 years in Los Angeles, Columbus, El Paso and Austin. Today, he lives with his wife in the Live Music Capitol of the World—Austin, Texas—and enjoys golf, hunting and country music.
