Is there even a point?

Is there even a point to request new stations? When was the last time Slacker added a new station anyway, besides the "special" stations (MJ station, etc)?

I hear ya, Crimp. I too often feel like there is no point to anything, and I just want to lie in bed all day. But in this case, I promise, there is a point: Slacker actually pays attention to your station requests! Hooray, a reason to get out of bed!

Example: As the go-to guy in the Electronic genre, part of the reason Slacker brought me on board was to create a Trance channel, which was specifically because of the overwhelming demand for it right here on the forums. Our Electronic lineup of stations has grown and changed twice in the last 12 months. Now, if you request an all-mid-'90s-rare-bleep-tracks channel, while I might find that entertaining myself, I'm not sure there would be much of a, er, market for that. But rest assured, Slacker cares what you think, and pays attention to listeners ideas -- my presence here is proof of that.

Thanks for the feedback and hope you keep listening!

That's only part of the problem. Due to licensing restrictions, we G1/G2 users are so limited as to the mainstream music we can listen to at all. Add to that the fact that Slacker has the attitude of "there's not much of a market for other kinds of music" and what are we left with?

Maybe I'm lucky to live in an area with lots of choices for entertainment, but in short, what makes Slacker *different* if it's just a very limited version of the same stuff you can get from Sirius/XM or even a normal city full of OTA radio?

Actually, the selection I get from my Sirius radio is larger than the selection I get on my G2. Due to Slacker's licensing restrictions, as you say.

But my Sirius doesn't cache! :-) (At least, now that I no longer have my Sirius Stiletto ... hmmm ...)
