Club/Dance Hits Not Digging it...I miss BPM I guess

I don't think there's much wrong with the programming per se, just maybe not matching up with the names. Since I'm new to all of this, I'm just offering an opinion as to what a newbie would expect.

Since the channel was labled hits, I expected kind of a Top 40 for Dance music with more radio type edits while the Trance channel I would expect the more hardcore (traditional) dance music in their original forms.

I hope I'm being clear, hard to tell. I do enjoy what's being done here. I am fed up with XM.

Thanks again for all the feedback! I just want to reiterate that these changes to our Electronic channels are very new, and there are more to come. Even before your comments, all of us who program the Electronic stations were already in the process of shifting playlists around slightly to reflect the new channel lineup, and we'll continue to do so. Thanks for sticking with us while things are in flux, and keep telling us what you think!

Obviously it's hard to please everybody, and when some people want more mainstream music, others will want nothing but edgy new tracks. We're trying to cover all the bases. But most of all I know all of us Slacker Electronic programmers are just stoked that there is such an active audience out there who's tuning in! :worship:

It's just nice to actually have a place for feedback. You can't get that with Sat radio.

Kaskade & Deadmau5 - Move for Me
Kim Leoni - Medicine
Lasgo - Out Of My Mind
Danny Dove & Steve Smart - Need In Me (Whelan & Di Scala Remix)
DJ Antoine - Underneath (Tony Arzadon & Nathan Scott Remix)
Flanders - Behind (Callea Mix)

I tried to create a station with some of the artists you said are in rotation, but they were not found. If they're in rotation they should show up right?

Hmmm, are you saying I'm lying?

I must admit I'm not familiar with the way the "create your own station" stuff works here on Slacker, so I can't say why these artists don't show up when you search for them. But if you go to Trance on the online player, and then click "edit station," you'll see that all these artists are definitely in rotation.

The question about why some artists don't show up when you try to create a station should be directed towards Slacker Support over here.

I don't think he's saying you are lying Party Ben. I have had that same issue too with a few artists. I know they are in rotation but when I try to add them, they are nowhere to be found. It's possible it's a licensing thing? There is a new female singer on the blues station that I hear every day who I enjoy but when I do an artist search to add her to my custom station, she doesn't show up. I know I am spelling her name right but maybe in the database her name was accidentally not spelled right. I will bring that to slacker support's attention.

btw, Kim Sozzi does show up for me.

Hey guys,
Just because an artist is on rotation, doesn't mean that you can search/add them in Custom Stations.

Most of the time the problem is that we have a very limited selection of music by that artist, and/or not enough related artists to that artist to create stations around. If you are seeing artists that we are missing though, please feel free to use the forums for requesting artist and we'll go out and get the music (from the label, or we'll buy it and put it in ourselves if needed).

As far as artists missing, just send feedback to support, and we'll forward it on. It might not be fixed immediately but attention will be paid to it.

Best regards,

I put a bunch of requests in the artist suggestion section.

I am trying my hardest to recruit some of the BPM crowd over to slacker.

Some of them don't seem to think the dance section is up to par though.

Yeah, I see, and sure, satellite was able to throw a bunch of venture capital money at a bunch of stations with live mixes and no licensing worries, and they were good, but that didn't last, did it. ;)

I know all of us are committed to putting some new energy into the Slacker Electronic offerings and I think the lineup is getting pretty good. Hopefully with the help of Slacker proselytizers like yourself, we'll get some of these hardcore fans to give us another chance! Point 'em towards my Trance Top 20 and see what they say! :rules:

Will do. Also check out the "share your stations" section. Apparently someone saw my BPM channel and bought a G1 because of it! :)

Ben this may be better directed towards RomeE but perhaps you can answer it too. If I can go buy a song on Amazon it stands to reason it's not XM exclusive correct? I was able to go last night and buy about 95% of the songs I requested.

Also, do you know if Slacker will start to add different mixes of the same song to the request section? For instance you have the remix to Madonna's "Miles Away" but not the Johnny Vicious mix. Not sure what your process is for obtaining music once you've gotten the rights to air it, but have you guys checked out http://www.masterbeat.com/ ?

Hmm, that's a very good question, it brings up something I had been wondering about, i.e., if a given song has not been programmed into any Slacker station, can it be added to a custom station, and if not, how can that be fixed? As far as remixes go, obviously I'm picking specific mixes (generally radio edits or the ones I think fit best on the station) but others might have different preferences for their custom stations. I'll throw that question at the pros.

" So I'd suggest checking out our Trance channel. It's not exactly the same as BPM -- It's got some of the big rave classics (which BPM didn't really do) and also we try to push the envelope a little bit with some edgy new harder and progressive stuff. But the core playlist of new music is very similar to BPM or Energy-style stations, minus the pop remixes.

Thanks for the info! I am new to slacker and loved the BPM of old also! (Alan Freed is on Facebook if anyone wants to catch up with him!)

I will check out the trance channel you suggested!
