Android Love and the new myTouch™ 3G by HTC

Postby airtouch25 on Thu Jun 25, 2009 9:44 pm

Hi gents: :hi:

Everyone who knows me is well aware that I am the biggest diehard BlackBerry fan and equally as passionate about Slacker Radio.

That said, I'm about to break ranks and pick up a new toy to play with: The myTouch™ 3G that T-Mobile is set to launch in a few weeks.

Believe it or not, my fear is that my new toy will not support my favorite mobile radio app.

Anyone know when Android will be getting some Slacker love and will the experience be just as great as it is on my BlackBerry? Station caching?

The myTouch™ 3G is going to be a hot seller and Android in general is gaining in popularity by the minute.

Please say it's on the way! ;-)

Slacker has not said if or when they would be working on an Android app. They've also said nothing about Windows Mobile or the Palm Pre/WebOS. Windows Mobile currently has a much larger audience, having been around the block for a few years, so I would expect a WinMo app to be released before an Android version, but that's just me.

True it isn't as big yet, but I see the potential for lots of premium user signups if the ability to access the app is there.

I know Pandora is working on an Android app right now as we speak. I just prefer Slacker over Pandora.

I'm sure they'll be lots of other Android based radio apps for download but as we all know not all apps are created equally.

I went from my Blackberry to a G1. you'll love it :)

There are tons of internet radio apps available for Android, but alas, not slacker. I use a last.fm player on mine and it works well.

G1 is great, but I'm upgrading to the MyTouch3G as well. With Pandora now working on it, it's a no-brainer. I lost my G2 somewhere in Vegas early this year, and I rarely visit Slacker site anymore, and haven't used the service (I still have an annual paid account) in many months...iMeem and Pandora are filling the bill nicely in Slacker's absence. ;)
